Conte hints at West Ham start for Chelsea skipper Terry

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has suggested that John Terry could start in Wednesday night's EFL Cup clash with West Ham United.

The Blues skipper has been on the bench in the last two matches after returning from injury but is expected to feature at the London Stadium in the fourth round of the league cup competition.

Conte said of the centre-half: "He's fit to start, he's in good shape.

"Tomorrow I will decide the starting 11 but John's fit and he's been training well."

Conte's successful shift to a 3-4-3 formation over the past three matches may prompt the Italian to stick with the current back three of Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta, although he does admit there could be alterations.

"The last three games we did very well," Conte added.

"It's normal when you play with the same players in the same roles — they take confidence.

"It's important in these games, for example the cup, to find new solutions.

"Because if you have an injury during the season it's important to have a good solution ready.

"For this reason we find a different solution. I want to see the players give me the good answer."
