Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has hinted that the club's exit from the EFL Cup will result in fewer opportunities for the youngsters this season.
The Blues bowed out of the competition after losing the fourth-round tie 2-1 to London rivals West Ham United during midweek and it could mean the end of cameos for certain youth products.
The Italian manager said: "This cup was very important to check the development of these young players.
"We have good young players, and they need to play. So, I am disappointed that we can't play in this competition now."
Ola Aina and Nathaniel Chalobah both started in the match at the London Stadium, playing 67 and 63 minutes respectively.
