Chelsea boss Antonio Conte insists they can be happy with their campaign - even if they end it potless.

Conte says he could have done no more given what he sees as the Premier League champions' limited spending.

He said: “I'm very satisfied for my job, for the work we're doing — me, the staff, my players.

“We're doing a fantastic job, also in this season.

“We have to try to win this competition. But I repeat, it's not important.

“You have to know which is our level now.

“Last season we did a fantastic job. Also in this season we are doing a fantastic job, a great job.

“Then, if you are able to win something, it's good.

“But you have to understand your position in this moment, which is your level in this moment."

He continued: “We lost a lot of players, old players, that created a basis for Chelsea for a long time.

“Now we are trying to build a basis for this club.

“We have a lot of young players, a lack of experience against teams like Barcelona.

“Many are playing for the first time in this competition."
