A Conservative MP has claimed Manchester United captain Gary Neville is the perfect role-model for the youth of ... Liverpool!
Chris Grayling, the Shadow Home Secretary, put his foot in it when he told the home affairs committee that the Manchester United captain was the perfect role model for the disaffected youth of Merseyside, says The Times.
"I have spent time on the streets of Toxteth with some very good youth workers, who told me that kids are growing up without any parental guidance at home," Grayling said. "If I was to pick out a good role model, it would be Gary Neville, an estimable professional over a long period of time."
Neville, who has played for United for 17 years, has made no secret of his hatred of Liverpool. "I can't stand Liverpool," Neville said. "I can't stand Liverpool people, I can't stand anything to do with them."
