Connor has taken just three points from 11 games since he took charge after Mick McCarthy was sacked and has failed to save Wolves from the drop.

But he said: “Results do count against me, yes. This is a results-orientated game, so you won’t get any bleating from me about that.

“I understand what business we are in and it’s about winning. I accept whatever way the club goes.

“My record is out there and I have to stand or fall by it. If they feel that I’m the best man, then great.”
