Connor Henderson admits he had to endure the typical Arsenal first team initiation after being called up for Sunday's defeat at Wigan Athletic.
It was the first time the midfielder had been selected for first-team duties and, speaking on Monday, he explained how he found out about his inclusion.
"It was the day before, so I found out on Saturday," Henderson told Arsenal.com. "Neil [Banfield, the Reserve-team manager] came and spoke to me and explained I would be in the squad. It was a nice surprise more than anything.
"The players all made me feel at home, I had to sing so that was a bit nerve-wracking! I did a song from Mario called 'Let me Love You,' but it went well and everyone laughed so it was alright.
"Just to be included was massive for me, I was so happy to be going with the squad. If that happens again it's a bonus, if not then I'll just try and play my best in the youth team.
"I know what I have to work on to improve my game, so I'll do that work and hopefully I'll be a better player next season."
