COMMENT: Real Madrid winger Bale lambasted despite posting numbers similar to Chelsea ace Hazard

Gareth Bale has been continually subjected to negative press for his performances with Real Madrid this season.

The 25-year old Welsh winger was often criticised for his below-par showings for the Spanish giants during the 2014/15 campaign but in reality, his statistics do not show his apparent lack of output.

In all competitions in the recently-completed season, Bale scored 17 goals and produced 12 assists in 48 appearances (including Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup) but was constantly slammed for failing to make an impact for Real.

When looking at Bale's numbers, the former Tottenham star can certainly claim to be treated harshly especially seeing as Eden Hazard, who won every individual award conceivable last term, scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists.

Two less goals and one more assist is surely not much of a difference when you take into consideration that Hazard took out the Premier League Player of the Year, PFA Players' Player of the Year, Football Writers' Association Player of the Year and Chelsea Player of the Year awards.
