New York Red Bull have traded defender Eric Brunner to the Columbus Crew. Brunner had been a second-round pick by the Red Bulls last year, but left the team when asked to take a developmental contract. He played 11 games for Miami in the USL, and came back to camp with the Red Bulls, but didn't make the cut.
"Eric is known quantity, obviously, being from the Columbus area and having trained with us periodically over the last couple of years," Columbus technical director Brian Bliss said. "We are well aware of what he can do and know he can provide us cover in a couple of different spots on the field."
