Columbus Crew striker Jeff Cunningham became Major League Soccer's all-time leading scorer on the weekend when he netted his 134th league goal.
The 35-year old converted from the penalty spot as Crew lost 6-2 to Seattle Sounders to pass Jaime Moreno's record and he thanked his former clubs for helping him reach the milestone.
"They've been very supportive," he told MLSsoccer.com. "I couldn't have done it without them."
Cunningham revealed that he has been struggling with a knee injury but managed to get up for the match from which he will keep the ball as a memento of his achievement.
"There was a good chance I was going to have surgery this week with the problems with my knee," he added. "It was a question at one point if I could continue with my season.
"I need the boys to sign it," he said. "That will be a part of my life for a long time."
