Columbus Crew not necessarily targeting Marshall replacement in MLS SuperDraft

Columbus Crew head coach Gregg Berhalter admits he will not solely be going after a central defender in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.

The Crew have pick four in Thursday's draft and Berhalter insists a centre-back will not necessarily brought in to fill the void left by veteran Chad Marshall who departed for Seattle Sounders in December.

"For centre-backs, it's difficult to come in and fill a void that Chad left right way," Berhalter said.

"We're evaluating every position, I wouldn't necessarily say that centre-back is the way we're going to go."

He added: "We think there is a good group of attacking players in the draft and it's certainly something we're going to take a hard look at."

Last year, the Crew selected forward Ryan Finley with their first pick - ninth overall - and could possibly go down a similar path this time around.
