Columbus Crew are set to meet English Premier League club Newcastle United in an international friendly in July. Crew will take on the Magpies at Crew Stadium on Tuesday, July 26 which will be the second time the two clubs have met following the match at the same venue back in 2000.
Crew president Mark McCullers was delighted to announce the exhibition match, saying it was a positive outcome for the club.
"We are pleased once again to bring top-flight international soccer right here to Columbus and to provide the best competitive challenge for our team," said McCullers. "The English Premier League is arguably the best league in the world and Newcastle United is one of its most storied clubs."
It is the second match on Newcastle's summer schedule after they confirmed a fixture against Sporting Kansas City on July 20.
