Columbus Crew forego contract options for Schelotto and Hejduk

Columbus Crew have essentially said goodbye to veterans Guillermo Barros Schelotto and Frankie Hejduk by declining the option to extend their contracts.

The experienced pair will not be at the club in 2011 as the Crew begin planning for the future following a disappointing end to 2010.

37-year old Argentine striker Schelotto made 102 league appearances for Columbus, scoring on 33 occasions. He led the club to the 2008 MLS Cup and won two Supporter's Shields in 2008 and 2009 as well as MLS MVP in'08.

Hejduk was Schelotto's partner in crime during this successful period for the Crew but the club is prepared to let them go to take a step forward.
