Columbus Crew received their championships rings prior to the match against New York this weekend before a crowd that included Columbus resident and former world heavyweight boxing champion James "Buster" Douglas and ex-Crew goalkeeper Brad Friedel of Aston Villa in the English Premier League.
Following his team's 1-0 home win against New York Columbus Crew's head coach was happy with the three points.
"I was happy we didn't give up a goal in the last minute. We bounced back from the loss at Dallas. That was a huge win for us," Crew coach Robert Warzycha said.
"(Hesmer) had two weeks of training. He was very sharp, especially last week. That's why he played," Warzycha said. "There's always competition. Andy didn't lose the job because he lost at Dallas. It's a healthy competition. Whoever is best is going to play."
