Melbourne Heart captain Simon Colosimo is confident the experienced defenders in the team can get the job done this season.
The former Sydney FC centre-half is a key member of the brand new Heart defensive formation along with Australian international Michael Beauchamp, ex-Central Coast Mariners and Huddersfield Town left-back Dean Heffernan and former Sky Blues teammate Clint Bolton and he harbours ambitions to be the best defensive unit in the A-League this season.
"I know Megzy (Beauchamp) quite well. Tonight was probably the easiest game I think the back four have played in terms of just positioning, getting things right," Colosimo said after the pre-season friendly loss to Everton last night.
"There was less and less positional errors but there is a wealth of experience with Dean (Heffernan) left side of me, Megzy next to me on the right and then big Clint Bolton behind us (in goals). I think it's a goal of ours, it's always a goal of mine to concede as least goals as possible and win that department. That's our main goal as a defence and hopefully we can do that."
