Colorado Rapids' Sharpe goes on loan with FC Dallas

Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Chris Sharpe has gone on loan to rival MLS club FC Dallas.

The Australian gloveman has been loaned out by the Rapids for four weeks and will jump straight on the bench for tonight's clash with the New England Revolution at Pizza Hut Park.

Sharpe told tribalfootball.com that he was excited about the opportunity after his first training session with Dallas.

"I got off the plane and had a quick session with the goalkeeping coach and some crossing and finishing," he said.

"I spoke with the coach Schellas Hyndman this morning, he said they had heard very good things about me. They had an injury to their number one (Kevin Hartman) and thought it was an ideal time to bring me in on loan and take a look at me. Both their goalkeepers are 36 and 35 yrs old.

"We have a game tomorrow night against the New England Revolution. The 35-year old, Dario Sala, is starting. So we will see how it goes but it could be a great opportunity."

Sharpe added that it had been fairly hectic at his home club, the Rapids, with plenty of player trades in recent times.

"It's been a crazy week at the Rapids," he added. "Two players (Mehdi) Ballouchy and my best mate (Colin Clark), got traded to NY Red Bulls and Houston respectively and we picked up Macoumba Kanji and Brian Mullen, both good players."
