Colorado Rapids head coach Gary Smith is looking for his strike force to step up. Speaking after training this week, Smith was very clear that his forwards need to be more clinical in front of goal.
"What you have is, you've got players - Omar Cummings, Colin Clark, Jake Peterson when he comes on - are all lacking in real experience in front of the goal," Smith said.
"They possess good pace and real determination. And at the moment, when you look at Colin, the two opportunities that he created (on Saturday) ... he just shows very little composure.
"And that just comes with experience. So while I can take a back seat and look from a very comfortable position and say he should be squaring the ball. But when he's playing at full tilt, it's not always the easiest thing to do.
"There is no criticism for that little bit of polish that we are lacking at the moment. There is no concern about the character ... but we certainly are lacking some real creativity when needed. That needs to be addressed."
