Colombian midfielder Castrillon released by Colorado Rapids

Colorado Rapids have announced the release of Colombian midfielder Jaime Castrillon.

The 30-year old arrived in Denver from homeland club Independiente Medellin in January 2012 and was the Rapids' leading scorer in that season with eight goals.

However, knee injuries limited him to just 11 appearances in 2013 and the Rapids have opted to part ways with the 29-times capped Colombia international.

"Jaime wants to play first-team football, and so he's going to look for those opportunities," Rapids technical director Paul Bravo told the club's official website.

"We want to thank him for what he gave to the Rapids, as our leading scorer in 2012, and a hardworking, strong player and presence this past season."
