Coloccini insists Newcastle strikers are quality

Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini says the club attacking players are good enough to hit winning scores for the Magpies.

Despite failing to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window and scoring just three goals in four games so far this season, Coloccini is confident the likes of Shola Ameobi, Peter Lovenkrands, Leon Best and Demba Ba can do the job.

"I do not have any worries about our attacking," he told The Northern Echo.

"I know we have a side that is capable of creating chances and scoring goals and you will see that in the next few games."

Newcastle struggled to create chances in their 0-0 draw at QPR on Monday night but that has not alarmed Coloccini.

"It was difficult on Monday because I thought QPR played a very good game and prevented us from creating too many chances. They pressured the ball very well," the Argentine added.

"But I don't think there are any issues in terms of us creating things - we scored three goals in the two games before that.

"We have very good creative players. We have strong attackers and strong midfielders - I really don't think there will be a problem in terms of scoring goals."
