"The Bulgarian is capable of goals and skills that few others are, and talent like that is worth its weight in gold. But one thing you do not do with luxury players is make them captain of your football club.
"If he feels he is working hard and has a voice as skipper in the dressing room, it will breed resentment among players who are doing three or four times as much running – like Steve Sidwell or Scott Parker."
