"Take Steven Gerrard, too. He has been the main difference between Liverpool and City this season, and the way he spoke to his team-mates after last weekend’s game against Manuel Pellegrini’s side was the perfect example of how he is dragging them towards the finish line.
"Vincent Kompany is the one player you would look to at City, but he only goes three-quarters of the way Gerrard goes for Liverpool.
"And then you have Yaya Toure, a player who can single-handedly destroy some teams but can also go missing in the biggest of games. Perhaps that’s why Barcelona let him go."
