Danny Collins could be on his way from Sunderland.
"If you're trying to bring in players from other clubs they're guaranteed to ask you about one or two players at your club," said boss Roy Keane. "It's unfortunate, but for the deal to happen you might have to do a bit of business the other way.
"That might be the case over the next few days. A player we're interested in might involve a bit of part-exchange because clubs will want a replacement with just a few days of the transfer window left.
"I have to ask whether the player coming in will be a major benefit and if I have to let a player go to make the deal happen, that's something I'll have to consider. It happens with lots of deals."
