Collins admits Sunderland in trouble

Danny Collins admitted Sunderland faces a long, hard winter after he failed to become one of Sunderland's last-minute heroes when his late goal was disallowed in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

But to his disbelief and that of more than 40,000 home supporters, referee Steve Bennett disallowed what would have been a third stoppage-time winner this season for a foul on keeper Scott Carson which did not look clear on television replays.

The 27 year old Welshman said: "It's going to be tight throughout the season down there. Derby might drop away a bit, but the rest of us, there are about six or seven teams there who are going to be getting out of it, then coming back like ourselves.

"We got ourselves up to 13th or 14th and you think, 'Another win here and we can kick on'.

"But you get dragged back into it and for a lot of teams, it will be like that this season."
