Wales coach Chris Coleman rates Swansea City defender Ashley Williams the best centre-half in the Premier League.

Coleman is adamant his controversial decision to make Williams his skipper ahead of Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey has been fully vindicated by the way the Swans man has led his team to Wembley.

"The way Ash has been playing, I say unhesitatingly there is not a better centre-half in the Premier League," declared Coleman.

"His form has been better than that of anybody and maybe getting the Welsh captaincy proved to be an unexpected boost for Ash."

He continued: "People look at Ash and think 'Oh he only plays for Swansea City, not Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal' so they think he can't be that good.

"But there is nobody, and I do mean nobody, playing better in his position right at this moment."
