Former West Ham United striker Carlton Cole's attempts at signing a contract with Celtic were dealt a major blow when he suffered a calf injury during training.

Cole, who is a free agent, has been training with the Scottish champions recently and has been reportedly mulling over moves to the Hoops as well as an unnamed club in Qatar.

The severity of the injury is not confirmed, and it remains to be seen whether it will hinder the striker's immediate plans, with the Glasgow giants still interested in signing the 31-year-old.
