Cole: I owe success to West Ham boss Zola

Carlton Cole admits he owes his career resurgence to West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola.

The pair were team-mates at Chelsea and Zola's influence at Upton Park has helped make striker Cole a contender for England's World Cup squad.

Cole said: "I am going to try 100 per cent for Franco. He has made a turnaround in my career so I will try tooth and nail to get him out of the situation he is in.

"Now it is up to the players to try to help him out and do what is being asked of them. We did the double over Stoke last year and we are looking to emulate that.

"Franco is a really positive guy. He knows what he wants from his players and the standard he wants to play. All he can ask from the players is to give 100 per cent."
