Ashley Cole chose to commit to a new Chelsea contract after seeing continental interest dry up, it has been revealed.
The Daily Express says Cole, after rejecting the offer of a one-year contract in September, has seen interest from both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain fail to materialise into firm offers, and the 32-year-old has opted to accept a slightly improved deal.
Cole's representatives had talks with both Real Madrid and PSG last week. Manchester United were also interested, but again there was no concrete proposal.
The England full-back had hoped to secure a two-year deal, but has had to make do with a one-year offer that has raised his salary slightly.
There is, though, an option for another year should both sides agree on it next season.
