Celtic defender Adam Virgo has joined Championship club Colchester on a six-month loan deal.

Virgo, 24, has been farmed out to the U's following an unsuccessful spell with the Scottish champions.

He signed for £1.5million from Brighton in July 2005 but failed to hold down a first team place at Parkhead.

He spent last season at Coventry on a season-long loan move.
