Jack Colback starred with Sunderland last season - despite being one of the lowest paid in the squad.
The midfielder is off contract this month and has a £50,000-a-week, four-year offer from West Ham United on the table.
The Daily Mail says he was one of the worst paid players at Sunderland last season on around £6,000-a-week, having come through the ranks.
