Colantuono delighted for Palermo fans after derby victory

Palermo coach Stefano Colantuono was delighted for the fans after their derby victory over Catania yesterday.

Palermo had lost four on the trot before Colantuono's return coincided with back-to-back wins over Napoli and Catania.

"I am happy with this victory and dedicate it to the fans who cheered us on throughout the whole match," said Colantuono, who saw Fabrizio Miccoli hit the winner for Palermo.

"Miccoli decided the game with his free kick. Fabrizio is a very important player we can always count on. I had wanted to introduce him only in the last half-hour, but we needed him before then."

The former Fiorentina and Juventus player had been out injured for several weeks, but came back with a bang.

"We are happy because we were in a rough position and did not deserve to be," said Miccoli.

"Now with these two important wins we can deal with the final five rounds in a more relaxed atmosphere.

"It was a wonderful feeling to score in the derby. It has been an odd season for me with so many injuries, but I worked hard and thank the Rosanero medical staff.

"Now I am back with a great goal and I am in Seventh Heaven. Palermo are a good squad and could have aimed for something more ambitious this season, but it was an unlucky year."
