Israel ace Omer Golan has revealed how cocky Sevilla striker Alexander Kerzhakov inspired them to victory over Russia on Saturday - to hand England a Euro2008 lifeline.

Golan, 24, revealed the stars of David were all determined to beat Russia after hearing their Kerzhakov bragging Israel would lose even if they fielded 13 players.

He said: "That motivated us very much. The Russians were in shock.

"They underestimated us and paid for their arrogance. Now it's up to England not to mess things up."*
