Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli is delighted they managed to fight off Manchester City's interest in Gigi Buffon. "I do admire Buffon," he said. "I bless the time when Juventus signed him, I hope he goes on like this until the end of the championship and beyond.

"He has a contract with Juve, it was given to him, he is giving everything and will give a great deal, but he was right to do a little thinking.

"If one day we get an incredible deal, it would be assessed. At the moment there is absolutely nothing, but it is a smart way of thinking."
