Don Goodman believes that Sebastian Coates will prove to be a very good acquisition for Sunderland.
Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat strengthened his backline recently by securing the services of Coates on a permanent deal from Liverpool for a fee of around £2million.
Coates did a decent job during his time on loan at the Stadium of Light last season and former striker Goodman believes that the defender will prove to be a positive signing for the Black Cats.
Goodman told the Chronicle: "Dick has had the benefit of being in charge at the end of last season and he has identified central defence as one of his priorities.
"He is bringing in a lad who is hungry, which is good. Coates is still unproven to an extent in the Premier League, and hopefully he can keep on showing the supporters that he is a good signing."
