Stoke City chairman Peter Coates hopes to see more youngsters coming through their academy system.
City have announced a £6m investment to improve training facilities for the club's youth structure.
Coates said: "Crewe have done things very well and we know players from this area have gone to Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham.
"We want to make sure they want to come to Stoke.
"This is a good footballing area and always has been. We have always produced good players in Stoke."
