Stoke City chairman Peter Coates says there's no plans to introduce standing areas to the Brit.
The campaign for a partial return to standing inside Premier League stadia is gaining ground - with Aston Villa already agreeing to trial the initiative.
Stoke's chairman told The Sentinel: "I can see clubs that are re-developing stands or building a new stadium looking into the possibility, but not clubs with all-seaters.
"I don't see anything happening any time soon for those clubs, which would include ourselves, because of different financial priorities.
"I don't have any objection in principle to safe standing, as long as they are safe, but there is the financial question.
"And even then, we would still have to know what the police, the Premier League and the Football Association were thinking on this matter."
Angela Smith, chair of the Stoke Supporters' Council, said: "I prefer sitting at a football match myself, so I have no real passion for the return of standing at games."
