Stoke City have moved to reopen new contract talks with Asmir Begovic.
Begovic will only have 12 months left on his current deal at the end of this season and remains a potential target for a string of clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan.
Peter Coates, the club's chairman, said: "We will be working hard to convince Asmir to sign a new contract before the end of this season.
"He's got a year left after this summer and we have to be realistic, we don't want to get into a situation where his value diminishes if he doesn't sign.
"There are no problems between Asmir and the club and we are obviously keen to extend his contract here with us."
