Clyde youngster McCluskey keeping in close contact with Sunderland star Fletcher

Stefan McCluskey says he is learning plenty about his game from Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher.

The 22-year old Clyde attacker grew up with Fletcher, who joined the Black Cats from Wolves for £14million in the summer, and has revealed that he will tap into his psyche ahead of the weekend's Scottish Third Division clash with Rangers at Broadwood.

"My big brother Jamie, who plays for Dundee, and myself are probably Steven's best pals," said McCluskey.

"We grew up together in Hamilton and he spent more time in our house than his own. He would stay every other weekend.

"We are still really close and I speak to him all the time. We went down to Sunderland's derby against Newcastle last weekend and he had us in his hospitality box.

"Steven is playing at the highest level now - he is one of the top strikers in the Premier League.

"But he is still the same guy I have known for most of my life.

"He is someone any young striker would look up to. I am no different. You have to admire the way he has built his career and moved up the levels.

"I look at him and see what can be achieved when you put the hard work in. Steven deserves everything he gets - he's a top guy and a top player."
