Clemence tells Liverpool: Go after Stoke keeper Butland

Liverpool are being told to go after Stoke City's number one goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Despite Stoke's poor season, Butland is still rated as one of the top English goalkeepers in the game.

Now Roy Clemence, formerly a legendary keeper at Anfield, is urging his old club to sign up the goalkeeper in the summer.

"I'd go with Jack Butland of Stoke, said Clemence to StokeonTrent Live.

"I've known Jack since he was 15. I've worked with him since he was 16.

"If ever I saw somebody who was focused on being the England goalkeeper, or being a top goalkeeper from a young age, it was him.

"He's one of these lovely people ... when you are talking to people, it's great when they look you in the eye and you know they are taking it in, and they want to learn from experienced people.

"From day one with Jack he looked me in the eye and said, 'Come on, feed me information. I want to get better. Give me more information.'"
