Clavijo departs Traffic Sports for FC Dallas role

Official release

After three successful years as the Executive Director of Soccer for Traffic Sports USA (Traffic), Fernando Clavijo will move on to FC Dallas of Major League Soccer (MLS) serving as the Technical Director.

Clavijo begins his new role with FC Dallas immediately.

In his position with Traffic, Clavijo along with Luiz Muzzi, Director of Soccer, led Traffic's efforts to identify and develop young American talent, many of whom are currently members of the US National Team Player Pool. Clavijo helped transition second division club Miami FC ( now Fort Lauderdale Strikers) into a club focused on player development and playing attractive soccer, propelling the Strikers to the finals of the NASL in 2011. He also played a crucial role in forging a new and sustainable long-term vision for the NASL as Division 2 soccer in North America.

"During my 3 - 4 years at Traffic, soccer in North America has grown and evolved, in part due to our efforts in developing players and re-launching second division as the NASL," commented Clavijo. I am proud of what we achieved at Traffic during my time there and believe I am now better prepared to be a technical director. As Technical Director of FC Dallas, I look forward to continuing my relationship with the NASL and Traffic as we look to strengthen the team and further the growth of soccer in North America."
