Clash with Juventus legend Chiellini a sign of respect - Tottenham star Kane

Harry Kane suggests a physical battle with Giorgio Chiellini helped prepare him for the rigours of international football.

The Juventus defender cannoned into the back of the Tottenham striker in just Kane's second appearance for England in April this year.

The contact came just moments after kick-off, taking Kane by surprise, but the 22-year-old believes such contests will only make him improve as a player.

"I don't think he meant it," Kane said in an interview with FourFourTwo.

"Well, OK, maybe he did, but I think it's a sign of respect in a way – it showed me that he was ready for a good test. We had a good tussle, then shook hands afterwards.

"To be in that situation against one of the best defenders in the world can only help me develop."
