Chelsea are waiting for assistant manager Steve Clarke to sign a new £500,000-a-year contract.
But the former Chelsea and Scotland player, who had been sought as a manager in his own right by Leicester and QPR at the start of the season, was persuaded to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Clarke now takes on a bigger role in the preparation of the team for games alongside new Dutch coach Henk Ten Cate, with Grant acting as the overseer - and he has been offered a new, improved deal to compensate for those increased duties.
But the Scot has still not signed the new contract, which was presented to him three weeks ago.
