Chelsea No2 Steve Clarke says the entire club has been lifted by John Terry's decision to sign his new contract last week.

Clarke said: "We're delighted that John has signed.

"He is our captain and, when you get someone who has come from your academy system and is a Chelsea boy through and through, it gives a boost to the whole club.

"It's good timing just at the start of the season."
