Cisse Newcastle future in big doubt

Papiss Cisse's future at Newcastle United remains in doubt.

The Daily Mail says the Senegal international and the club have reached an impasse over his decision not to wear kit bearing the name of controversial moneylenders Wonga on religious grounds despite a month of negotiations.

Cisse trained alone when he returned from his summer break last week after refusing to wear the branded training kit, as well as the matchday shirt when the new season starts, because he says it is against his Muslim beliefs.

The striker was not on the flight which left Newcastle airport yesterday for Portugal and his absence is certain to increase speculation that he could be forced to quit St James's Park.
