"I just hope they don't boo me," he said. "It will be very emotional for me, meeting and playing against my old teammates. I am really looking forward to seeing all the Liverpool fans again.
"It will be strange for me, playing at Anfield in the colours of another club, but I am delighted to get the chance to see the fans once again."
Cisse, who showed his loyalty by getting married in Liverpool red, suffered a lack of starting appearances in his last season.
He told his former club's LFC magazine: "Liverpool were always my number one choice but you can't always have what you want in football.
"I still have my house nearby and have no plans to sell it. I get back to the area whenever I can.
"Sometimes you have to move on and I am happy to be at Marseille now. They are the club I have supported since my childhood and I have great pride to wear the shirt."
