Cid blasts Bolton work ethic

Gerald Cid has slammed the training methods of Bolton Wanderers after quitting the Premiership club last week for Nice.

The 24-year-old has declared his time with the Trotters was "a disappointment".

Speaking to L'Equipe, he added: "Some people have told me that I was mad to leave.

"But I could not see myself remaining on the bench or playing on the left for several more months.

"As soon as I knew the door was open to go I did not need to give it much thought."

Cid believes he had no chance of improving his game with Bolton and said: "I feel as though I worked less during training sessions than I ever did in France.

"We kept all of our energy for the matches. We would have a long warm-up, small games, but often every day was the same.

"To me training sessions are important if you want to improve, and that was not going to happen."
