Cicinho is delighted with the welcome he has received from Roma and their fans.

The former Real Madrid fullback completed his move to Roma yesterday and declared: "I was happy in Madrid, but I will be even more so here. I have such a strong desire to wear this jersey and I've already heard about the derby. It is all so very exciting.

"The most important thing for me in choosing a club was the history of it. Plus when I came to Rome to get my EU passport, I was enchanted by the city. I also loved the openness of the public. Playing here is just like being in Brazil.

"I made this decision along with my family. I also did my research, talking for a long time with Doni and Emerson, who spoke so very highly of Roma and the tight-knit happy team spirit. That is very important for me.

"I follow Serie A and it is very entertaining. Roma are among the favourites for the Scudetto and I cannot wait to help my teammates achieve that. I do feel the responsibility on my shoulders, but I told Real I wanted Roma."
