He told AVTV: "It was about 15 minutes before he announced it to the rest of the lads. He called me out of the dressing room and into his room and just asked me how I felt.
"I felt good and he said "you'll be starting". So I just had to deal with it then and I was looking forward to it.
"I couldn't wait to get out of the dressing room and onto the pitch, get warmed up and get going. When it kicked off I just got into it then and it was brilliant.
"With all the fans cheering the lads on, it was just brilliant. To get three points as well, I couldn't ask for more."
