Christmas period vital for us - Rangers' Bocanegra

Rangers defender Carlos Bocanegra has urged his teammates to grind out results any way they can during the busy Christmas period.

The Glasgow outfit, who have won the past three Scottish titles, have four league matches in between now and January 2 and the USA captain is well aware that positive results are required to push towards a fourth-straight Premiership.

"At the moment all these games are important and the Christmas period is always a fun time," he said.

"It's a big game against Celtic but we have to put in the work now so that when we get there we'll be fine.

"We haven't been playing particularly well for the past month and have had to grind out some results.

"Saturday was the same but we found a way to victory and these are the games you have to win to become champions, so it's great for the team.

"We beat Celtic at our place earlier in the season and had a big points gap while they were struggling a bit. Now we have been in and out of form and they have closed the gap so I don't think this one game against Celtic will decide the title.

"We've dropped points against other teams and so have Celtic.

"But the next Old Firm derby is a massive one and winning our next games would give us confidence going into it."
