Christianson hoping he impresses enough to land NYRB contract

Ian Christianson is determined to impress the New York Red Bull coaching staff enough to land himself a professional contract.

The 21-year old midfielder, drafted by the Red Bulls in last month's MLS SuperDraft, is performing well during pre-season training but could be a touch stronger in his position according to head coach Mike Petke.

Christianson admits that advice is something he is taking on board and he now plans to push on and land himself a MLS deal with the New York franchise.

"It's definitely something that's in the back of my mind, something I'm working on: playing big, playing strong and kind of having that edge," Christianson told MLSsoccer.com.

"I just hope to continue to develop my own edge, every player has one, and getting myself established and keep rolling."

He added: "The mentality is to prove myself and keep improving. I'm going to give my best efforts and show what I have and take the opportunity."
