Chivas USA trades Nagamura to Sporting Kansas City

Official release from Chivas USA

Chivas USA announced today that the club has traded Brazilian midfielder Paulo Nagamura to Sporting Kansas City in exchange for their highest first round 2012 Supplemental Draft pick, which is the fifth pick in the first round of the 2012 Supplemental Draft.

The pick is Chivas USA's natural pick, which the club originally traded to Sporting KC last week via a previous trade.

"We'd like to thank Paulo Nagamura for all the hard work, effort and dedication he has shown in the five seasons that he was a part of the organization [Chivas USA]," commented Chivas USA General Manager, Jose Domene. "We are certain he will do well with his new team [Sporting KC] because he is a true professional and a hard worker who was always committed to the objectives of the club."

Nagamura, 28, re-signed with Chivas USA in June of 2010 after a six month stint with Tigres UANL of the Mexican First Division. He appeared in 99 matches and is currently fifth in all-time games played for the Goats. Paulo scored nine goals and eight assists over the past five seasons.
