Chivas USA thrilled with signing of Bocanegra

Chivas USA sporting president Denis Te Kloese believes Carlos Bocanegra will add plenty to the Californian clubs squad.

The 34-year old former Fulham, Rennes and Saint-Etienne defender has been acquired by the Goats in exchange for a first-round draft pick in 2015 and international slot going to Toronto FC, who were at the top of the allocation order for his services.

Te Kloese was looking forward to Bocanegra, who most recently played for Spanish side Racing Santander on loan from Scottish outfit Rangers, bringing his experience and know-how to the Chivas line-up.

"I think his experience is going to be very valuable for us, as he knows MLS well from when he played for Chicago Fire, and has a long track record with the US Men's National Team," he said.

And Bocanegra added that he will look to step up for the Goats as he seeks to regain his spot in Juergen Klinsmann's US setup.

"I would always like to play for the national team," Bocanegra said. "(But) I was looking to get games in a good league. I've followed the MLS closely the last few seasons."
